A couple of weeks ago Mo and I joined my friend Mia for an early dinner at my favorite sushi spot, Blue Ribbon at The Grove, Los Angeles. Mia is a talented actress who grew up in Chile, so between her and Mo’s European style upbringing’s, we had a good laugh about how they consider our early dining time more of a late lunch! If you’ve seen any of my previous restaurant posts, you know how important it is for us blogger types to catch the light and beat the crowds.
Mo started off with this Miso Soup. The miso comes on the side so you can tailor it to your liking.
Mia and I split the Season Salad with Cranberry, Asian Pear, Cucumber, Mizuna and Mushroom.
I order this Tuna, Salmon and Yellowtail Roll wrapped in cucumber every time I dine here!
Mia and I had so much fun catching up on life, auditions and gossiping about the former talent agent we once shared.
Plenty of rice available at Blue Ribbon, but they will also make you almost any roll you like wrapped in cucumber. We devoured up the Spicy Yellowtail on the right before you could say “Hamachi”!
This Chef’s Sashimi is almost too pretty to eat!
The beautiful Phoenix Roll features mixed vegetable wrapped in cucumber and topped with avocado.
Blue Ribbon has plenty of cooked entrees and appetizers to choose from if you’re not a fan of raw fish. The menu features a Grilled Half Chicken, Seared Scallops, Lobster, Wagu Steak and Fried Chicken “Blue Ribbon Style” served with Wasabi Honey. Vegetarian options include Coconut Rice, Sweet Potato Mash and a Wild Mushroom Roast with sea salt and herbs.
The staff at Blue Ribbon is always welcoming, hospitable and eager to help with special allergy requests. Mia and I got photo bombed by these two as we chowed down on our Sashimi. 🙂
We all dug into this delicious Green Tea Crème Brulee, which is a perfect gluten-free option to finish off our delightful meal.
